Trust Shield & Safeguarding · v1.0

Trust is the foundation

Community Concierge exists to help neighbours become communities. Because our platform brings together adults, teenagers and families within their local community, safeguarding is not simply another feature — it is the foundation everything is built on. Every decision should answer one question: does this help create a safer, more trusted community?

This page is maintained by Community Concierge to explain what we verify, what we don't, and how we respond to safeguarding concerns. It is not an independent certification.

The Blue Trust Shield

The Blue Trust Shield is Community Concierge's way of showing that a household has completed our verification process. It represents transparency, not endorsement.

What we have verified

Before a household receives a Blue Trust Shield, Community Concierge has confirmed:

  • An adult (18+) has self-confirmed as the Household Admin.
  • The Household Admin has verified their email address.
  • A valid debit or credit card has been registered for identity and billing verification.
  • The Household Admin has been approved into the household address (or holds it as the founding admin).
  • The Household Admin has accepted the Community Charter & Code of Conduct — see the full Charter at /charter.

We do not know who else lives at or visits this address — we only hold the initial registrant's details.

What we have NOT verified

The Blue Trust Shield is not a guarantee of someone's character, intentions or suitability. Community Concierge has not:

  • Conducted DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks.
  • Conducted criminal background checks.
  • Verified employment history or qualifications.
  • Personally interviewed household members.
  • Confirmed that somebody is suitable to work with children or vulnerable adults.

For this reason, the Blue Trust Shield should never be interpreted as a safeguarding clearance or endorsement.

Safeguarding is a shared responsibility

Technology can help create safer communities. It cannot replace good judgement, responsible parenting or community awareness. Safeguarding is shared between:

  • Parents & guardians
  • Teenagers
  • Householders
  • Neighbours
  • Community Concierge

Parents & guardians

Parents and guardians should always feel welcome to accompany their teenager when attending opportunities — particularly during first meetings and early opportunities while everyone gets to know one another.

Householders offering opportunities should actively welcome parents and understand that building trust takes time. Parents should never feel they are being overprotective — their involvement helps create a safer, more confident experience for everyone.

Guidance for teenagers

Your safety always comes first. Community Concierge wants you to enjoy meeting neighbours, learning new skills and building confidence — and to know that it is always okay to put your safety first.

  • • Trust your instincts. If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't.
  • • You never have to enter someone's home. If you don't feel comfortable, politely say no.
  • • You are free to leave any situation at any time. You never need to explain yourself.
  • • Speak to your parent, guardian or another trusted adult if anything worries you.
  • • Ask questions before accepting an opportunity.
  • • If anything changes from what you expected, stop and contact someone you trust.

Your safety is always more important than completing a job. Community Concierge, your parents and your community will always support young people who choose to walk away from a situation that doesn't feel right.

Building trust

Community Concierge does not ask communities to trust strangers. It helps neighbours become familiar neighbours. Trust grows through positive contribution, good communication, shared experiences, community involvement and time. That is how strong communities have always been built.

The Community Passport

The Blue Trust Shield tells you where someone lives. The Community Passport shows how they contribute — positive reviews, completed projects, volunteering, leadership, helping neighbours, mentoring, community involvement. We believe lasting trust is earned through actions rather than verification alone.

Safeguarding concerns

Community Concierge has a zero-tolerance approach to safeguarding concerns. The safety of children, teenagers and vulnerable adults will always come before continued access to the platform.

If any member of the community raises a safeguarding concern relating to a person, household or address, Community Concierge will act immediately to protect the wider community whilst the concern is reviewed.

Immediate action

  • The household is immediately suspended.
  • Teen Opportunities linked to that household are paused or cancelled.
  • The household is removed from searches and community listings.
  • Household messaging is suspended where appropriate.
  • Billing is paused immediately.
  • The household cannot create opportunities or interact with members until the review has concluded.

Safeguarding review

Every concern is treated seriously. Where appropriate, Community Concierge may gather further information and cooperate with the relevant authorities where required by law. If you believe somebody may be at immediate risk, contact the police or the relevant safeguarding authority without delay.

Possible outcomes

  • • Reinstate the household.
  • • Apply additional safeguards or restrictions.
  • • Permanently remove the household.
  • • Remove the Blue Trust Shield.
  • • Remove Community Passports and leadership roles.
  • • Prevent the registered address from creating future Community Concierge households where necessary to protect the wider community.

Our commitment

We would always rather pause access whilst concerns are reviewed than allow a potential safeguarding risk to remain active. At the same time, safeguarding concerns will always be handled respectfully, confidentially and fairly. Not every report will ultimately be substantiated, which is why every concern deserves careful consideration.

Strong communities are built on trust. Trust grows through honesty, contribution and relationships.

The Blue Trust Shield confirms that a household has been verified. The Community Passport reflects the trust they have earned. Strong communities aren't built by apps — they're built by neighbours. Community Concierge simply helps them find each other.
